I will let you know right up front that this is a long podcast.
Daniel has more opportunity to see films in the theaters, more often than I do anyway, while I get most of my new movies & TV from streaming services like Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. But this does bring some variety to our reviews and podcasts and that is definitely the case in this podcast featuring “Detective Pikachu” (which Daniel saw in theaters) and “Extrememly Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile”, which I watched on Netflix.
Daniel and I discuss what he thought was pretty great about Detective Pikachu and we take a slight detour into the classic Pokémon series before starting into the more series Netflix film “Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile”. I go over the history of Bundy, the murders of the time period, why certain graphic themes should be avoided in all cinema and contrast the facts of the case with articles for the film as well as some dumb a** statements made by Zac Efron about Bundy.
Someone needs to kick Efron in the shins. Just once.
Thinking about EWSEaV after the fact, there are a few things I wish the creators had done differently to develop, for the audience, the real psycho that Bundy was as the film doesn’t work that angle quite enough. However, I do have a balance point in my review as I recommend a companion piece to EWSEaV, a Netflix documentary called “Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes.”
