Period or historical dramas are probably my favorite category in film for a variety of reasons and there is much to appreciate in even the 'worst' of them. I'm not saying Netflix's Anne With An E is the worst as it most definitely is not.
I’ve been very forward and honest on my dislike of the Netflix original series “Anne with an E”. My critiques, though harsh, have been honest just as my praise for the show was equally honest. I hope you’ll believe me when I say I actually did want to like this show. In fact, I wanted to love it.
I just can’t.
It took me awhile to wrap my head around why I don’t like it. Why doesn’t this show in my preferred category of cinema (aka historical or period drama) rub me the wrong way? What is it that I don’t like about it?
I think I finally figured it out.
And it’s simpler than I thought it would be.
